Joseph Schuster

Joseph Schuster is a partner at Ballard Spahr LLP who advises auto finance companies, financial institutions, and fintech companies on the legal and regulatory issues that arise when deploying new technologies in consumer finance, with a particular focus on AI in servicing and collections, borrower communications, and operational decisioning. He advises clients on compliance, product development, vendor oversight, and risk management across the lifecycle of consumer credit products. Joseph regularly counsels companies on how to implement AI and other emerging technologies in consumer-facing environments while managing regulatory, litigation, and reputational risk. He also advises on fraud in the rapidly evolving digital financial ecosystem and testified before the House Financial Services Committee on emerging fraud trends. Joseph co-leads Ballard Spahr’s State Attorneys General Consumer Finance Response Team.
