🌟General Session | Scams, Fraud and AI: The Growing Global Threat to Auto Lenders
Fraud fighter Frank McKenna of Point Predictive is sharing his insights into a growing threat to auto lenders.
Auto lenders are now under attack from fraud rings at home and overseas. AI has given both groups cheap tools to fake identities, car dealerships, and documentation, and lenders and consumers are paying for it.
In the U.S., fraudsters use AI to write false identity theft claims and dispute letters behind credit washing. Overseas crime groups use AI to clone real dealerships with copycat websites and documents, then get lenders to fund deals that never happen or scam consumers into sending wire transfers for cars that don't exist.
Global transport fraudsters pose as real car haulers to steal vehicles from dealers and auctions. Some of those cars can end up overseas before anyone notices they are gone.
This session walks through real cases from the U.S. and abroad, including deepfake applicants and document fraud. Attendees will leave understanding how auto lending fraud is changing before our eyes and becoming increasingly international and harder to spot.
