Recertification

Achieving recognition as a Certified Compliance Professional from the National Automotive Finance Association is a long-term commitment to yourself, your career, and your organization. Recertification is the process of renewing one’s certification status. To maintain your certification you must be prepared to continue to learn, grow and increase your knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations that govern consumer credit including changes in the law and developments in the regulatory environment, demonstrating your commitment to staying current in the field of Consumer Financial Services.

Graduates of the Consumer Credit Compliance Certification Program will recertify every two years from their program completion date through demonstrated professional development. Recertification is required every two years there after.

Recertification credits can be earned in the following categories:


•    Continuing Education
•    Instruction
•    Research/Publishing
•    Leadership
•    Professional Membership

Effective January 1, 2024: Recertification requirements are 24 Credits Every Two Years with at least 12 credits earned through the National Automotive Finance Association.

This requirement applies to those with a "Certification Valid Until" date after December 30, 2025.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

A.    Attending a Best Compliance Practices Meeting
B.    Attending the NAF Association’s Annual Conference
C.    Attending a NAF Recertification Class
D.    Attending a Consumer Finance Conference
E.    Attending Online Courses (NAF Certificate Course, others with prior approval)
F.    Attending Attorney CLE class on Consumer Finance Compliance Topic

One credit hour per education hour*

*12 credits per NAF Association Conference 


INSTRUCTION

A.    Conference Speaking Engagement on Consumer Finance Topic

6 credits per engagement

RESEARCH / PUBLISHING

A.    Published Article on Consumer Finance Topic 

 

3 credits per article (industry trade/state bar publication)

4 credits per article (Non Prime Times article) 

LEADERSHIP


A.    Leadership Position with an Accredited Association (e.g., American Bar Association, AFSA, DBA International, etc.), Committee or Working Group that Primarily Addresses a Consumer Finance Topic 

Requires prior approval from the certification administrator
3 credits annually

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION/ACCREDITATION

A.    Certification or Accreditation by an Accredited Association Regarding a Consumer Finance Topic (e.g., American Bankers Association’s Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, International Association of Privacy Professionals’ Certified Information Privacy Professional)
B.    Continuing Education Required to Retain Certification/Accreditation by the Accredited Association Regarding a Consumer Finance Topic

Requires prior approval from certification the administrator
