PORTLAND, OR – October 19, 2017 – The National Automotive Finance (NAF) Association, in partnership with Compli, participated in an informative webinar titled Internal Audit Insider Tips. The webinar focused on how fair lending institutions can improve their internal audit programs.
Webinar panelists included Michael Benoit, Chairman of Hudson Cook, LLP, Brian Larson, consumer finance expert at Compli, and NAF member David Keene, Director of Compliance at Sierra Auto Finance.
David Keene is a graduate of the first year of NAF’s Consumer Credit Compliance Professional certification program and is also a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional. Having done countless audits, Mr. Keene focused on the essential questions any internal audit should answer and shared a host of useful audit tips he’s learned over the years.
Michael Benoit has a wealth of knowledge relating to the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB) and advises banks, auto dealers, sales finance companies, and other creditors on a wide range of consumer financial services law. During his portion of the webinar, Mr. Benoit focused on what the CFPB expects in a fair lending audit program which is part of a comprehensive Compliance Management System (CMS).
Wrapping up the webinar program was Brian Larson of Compli who works with consumer finance, auto finance, and other financial services companies subject to fair lending regulations. He provided insight into how to better manage compliance programs, and specifically internal audits, with an automated CMS. He reviewed how automating compliance can bring efficiency and compliance gains while also reducing the risk of regulatory violations and lawsuits.
